Credible agency reports indicate that Chief Timipre Sylva, the just sacked former Governor of Bayelsa State, has left town and gone into hiding.

The former governor who was sacked Friday and who remains out of favor with his party and President Jonathan, was said by sources close to him to have slipped away to an unknown location during the night hours of Friday.

One agency report quoted a source, who revealed that: “We are looking for him, he told his security detail to wait for him in their convoy early this morning. No one has seen him since then. We are looking for him.”

It bears mentioning that one of the major fallouts of the Supreme Court ruling sacking the 5 Governors is how the immunity suddenly stripped from Sylva has rendered  him  vulnerable to arrest, especially since he seems to be on daggers-drawn with the Presidency whilst in office but protected by his constitutional immunity.

And Sylva appears to now lack any political value that might protect him because his party (PDP) had disqualified from the primary for the upcoming guber election in Bayelsa.

It will be recalled that Sylva was alleged to have threatened to harm the President. If true, such a threat, unless downplayed by the President who is Sylva’s kinsman, could lead to criminal prosecution, including one for treason. It has also been previously widely reported in media that Sylva has outstanding petitions against him at the EFCC, which was unable to move against him because of his immunity.
